How do I bill support hours and a fixed project fee on the same IT invoice?
Use separate line items. Put each block of support hours with its quantity and hourly rate on its own line, then add the fixed-fee project as a single line with a flat amount. List any hardware or software you passed through as their own lines. The template totals everything into one subtotal, adds tax, and shows a single grand total, so the client sees the full cost and the breakdown behind it.
Can I use this template for a monthly managed-services retainer?
Yes. Set one line for the monthly plan or retainer with the flat amount, and add extra lines for any out-of-scope work or overage hours that month. Note the service period in the reference field, give each month's invoice a new invoice number, and set the terms you agreed on, such as Net 15 or Net 30.
Should I charge sales tax on IT services?
It depends on your state and what you are selling.
