How to create your invoice

Add shipper, consignee, and shipment details
Enter your business (the shipper) at the top and the buyer receiving the goods (the consignee) below it. Give the invoice a unique number, set the issue date, and note the reason for export and delivery terms.

Frequently asked questions
What is a commercial invoice used for?
It tells customs what is being shipped, who is sending and receiving it, and what it is worth. Customs uses it to clear the goods and to assess any duties or import taxes. It is not the same as a receipt — it travels with the shipment as a customs document.
How is a commercial invoice different from a proforma invoice?
A proforma invoice is a quote you send before a sale is final, so the buyer knows the expected cost. A commercial invoice is the final document for goods that are actually shipping, showing the real values customs relies on. Do not use a proforma in place of a commercial invoice at the border.
What details do I need to put on it?
At a minimum: shipper and consignee names and addresses, a description and quantity of each item, the unit and total value, the currency, the country of origin, the reason for export, and the delivery terms (Incoterms). Your carrier or the destination country may ask for more, such as an HS/tariff code, so check their requirements before you ship.
